Subject: CALABRR

DearMr. Bromwell,

I am writing to thank you once again for your generousdonation to my organization, Companion Animals for Life All Breed Rescue and Referral(CALABRR).  At this time I have an 8 month old Australian Cattle Dog who was justspayed and will be going to her new home on a farm in Connecticut this weekend. I alsohave a 1 year old Cocker Spaniel mix who needs complete vet work done as well as beingspayed. There will be a severely neglected German Shepherd coming to me shortly who needsextensive socialization as well vet care due to his emaciated condition. I also have in mycare a 6-8 year old German Shepherd with bilateral hip dysplasia. A very sweet femaleblack lab has just come into my care as well. She too will need to be spayed before a newhome can be found. The funds that you have sent me will be used in the care of all ofthese animals and any other animals that may come into my care in the ensuing months.

As Christmas time approaches I anticipate another onslaught of calls from persons who weregiven dogs for Christmas presents (or whose children received them as presents) who neverwanted a dog and are unwilling to keep it. In the spring there will be those calls frompeople who also received dogs as Christmas presents or bought them for their children whohave suddenly found that the dog is too big; or someone in the house is allergic; or thechildren have become bored with the dog and are no longer giving It the attention itneeds. During these times especially, your donations_part2_ will of tremendous benefit to CALABRRand the dogs in my care.

As promised I have enclosed a receipt and a picture of the two dogs currently in my care.I thank you again Mr. Bromwell, from the bottom of my heart, for your generosity.

Warmest regards,

Stephanie Rameika

Dear Bob;

 I want to thank you, for caring enough to send methe money for Max’s medicine.  When Icalled I was just hoping to get her a flea dip or something like that.  I never expected for anyone to send me  the money to buy her medicine.  It is nice to know that people like you are outthere.

 Max was a stray when got her.  Our puppy was missing and someone called ourad.  Max looked like our puppy but Max wasyounger.  The people who found her were goingto take her to the SPCA but my husband and I decided to keep her.  Our puppy was never found and no one called toclaim Max.   Now 2 years later Max is thebiggest part of our family.

 Thank you again.

 Dear Bob;

 When I called today about my 90 year oldneighbor’s sick dog.  I was grateful toreceive help from you.

 She was feeling very guilty and confused about hersituation.  She could take her 17 year old dogfor treatment or she could eat this month.  Therewasn’t money to do both.

 The dog was having what looked like a stroke or aheart attack, he would rise and begin pacing in a stupor, he began having them closertogether.  Finally she was so unnervedwatching this happen that she was a basket case.

 In the examination room the dog had another seizerand she had him put down it was a very hard decision, but through her tears and sadnessshe realized she truly could not take care of her dog any longer.  It was not good for him.  When Dr. Herm told her “RJ” most likelyhad a brain tumor and would not last too long it made her decision easier.  Tonight she is sad and very lonely but she knowsit’s for the best.  She said that shewould be freighted at night now because “RJ” would bark and warn her of peoplearound her house.  Thank you for making herfeel less guilty, she knows all was done that could have been done.

Again thank you.

 Dear Bob:

 I would like to thank the National Humane Societyfor helping my cat Perdy.  Everyday Perdy andI have a routine, he usually goes outside and comes back home.  One day last week he didn’t come home for acouple of days.  I began to wonder, if he wasall right, I didn’t give much thought to him not returning, he has done this before.  When Perdy finally came home hopping.  I believe a car hit him.  I spoke to a co-worker who recommended that Icontact the National Humane Society.  Ididn’t know what to do.  Perdy is my 10year old daughter’s first real pet.  WhenI contacted you, I was greeted by a friendly voice, Mr. Ed Harris was very understandingand advised me exactly what to do in order to care for Perdy.   After learning, a veterinarian would be thebest the best option, I explained to Mr. Harris that I was financially unable to handlethe expenses.  Mr. Harris offered to pay theexpenses of the visit and the X-rays.  TheX-ray determined that Perdy’s foot was crushed and that he would need a cast,antibiotics and neutering was suggested.  Ithought to myself “OH-NO, What next!!”  WhenI called Mr. Harris with a follow up call to let him know the results, he again wascompassionate and said don’t worry we will have him all cleaned up.   Mr. Harris has gone beyond the norm and has beena true help in a time of crisis.  Mr. BobBomwell who also works at the NHS called me at work, to deliver a message from Mr. Harris.  Mr. Bomwell said that the check would be sent tothe hospital.  I thank God for them both whoworked together, to make it possible for me to have a happy, healthy cat.  I am truly grateful and this was a reminder thatthere are some good people left in the world!  Thankyou National Humane Society for making this possible.  I’m glad that I was able to tell my daughter some good news about thecat that she loves so much.

 Thank you

Stephanie Carroll

Dear Ed Harris;

 It is not very often that someone comes into a lifeand helps in the way that you have helped us.  You’veshown us your true giving spirit, your support during this difficult time and most of allyour belief in helping others help animals.

 We want to thank you for your generous gift check.  It has helped us defrayed the cost for the medicalbills for our dog, Amos.  He is still visitingthe vet regularly to have his leg rewrapped and will soon undergo another, hopefully thelast surgery.  The surgery will be to cover upthe fleshy new skin that has grown in with the surrounding tissue.  The doctor believes that the surgery will be hislast.

 Thank you for all of your help and support for ourdog.  We very much appreciate all that youhave done.  You helped us to recharge ourbelief in selfless giving.

 Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

 Jennifer Gaston
